Hey guys, so today I would like to share something with you guys which I think it is very interesting and if you got a chance to experience it, it would be a great and valuable experience. The thing that I wanted to share is Loy Krathong Festival.

This started two weeks ago, I had watched a movie and the movie showed a lot about Loy Krathong Festival which I found it was so interesting and exciting activities to do with the loves one. So I started to google about this festival, and I was correct! This festival was so exciting and colourful.

Loy Krathong Festival is a festival that Thailand citizen celebrates in November each year. This fantastic festival is a must celebrate festival if you happened to be at Thailand. Loy Krathong or also known as Thai Festival of Lights is one of the most enchanting and best known festival after New Year’s festival Songkran.

So what is Loy Krathong?  Krathong is a Thai term which refers to a piece of banana trunk decorated with flowers, banana leaves, candle and incense sticks. The word Loy means to float in the Thai language. When put together, those two terms simply mean floating banana trunk festival. Modern Krathongs are mostly made out of bread or Styrofoam. But Styrofoam Krathongs are sometimes not allowed as they pollute the water and they are difficult to decompose. Bread Krathongs are more environmentally friendly as they are biodegradable and in most cases eaten by fish.

Loy Krathong Phao Tien Fai in Sukhotai was found 700 years ago. Sukhotai is actually an antique city (it was the first area that Thai  people came to settle down). Loy Krathong is one of the important days in Thai calendar. It occurs on the full moon day if the twelfth lunar moth, the ‘high water’ season when water overflows the banks of the banks of river and canals. Thai people usually floats the Krathong on the surface of pond because it is easier for them to clear the Krathong after the festival ends.

Before they floats the Krathong away, they will cut their nails and a little of their hair to put inside the Krathong. This is because they belief that by doing these things, they can avoid bad things and cutting away their bad lucks. (some belief that it is to keep they stay healthy). The Loy Krathong also are used to apologize to Goddess Khong Kha because they poop and pee into the water before.(Thai people belief in Goddess Khong Kha ).

Krathong nowadays has so many unique designs✨and is made of various kind of materials. In the old days, they believe that if two people come to Loy Krathong together, they will become a real couple. The prices of the Krathong that they sell are also reasonable.

At the end of the festival, there will be a lot of fireworks shows and you can enjoy that moments with your family or your partner😍

That was all from me, I really want to try float the Krathong, it doesn’t mean that I believe in their believing, I just want to try and experience it myself. Some tips for you guys, before you  guys want to float the Krathong, you guys can make a wish ^^. Last but not least, i hope you guys enjoy reading this update❤
